Is everything better with bacon? I am a HUGE bacon lover and I thought I would try to answer this question by trying to make a bacon cupcake. I know what everyone is thinking, bacon cupcake?!?! I once saw on food network that Voodoo Doughnut in Seattle, WA makes a maple bar covered in bacon. I always thought that it was such a cool & innovative idea. So I decided to try and make my own bacon creation. Getting inspiration from Voodoo Doughnut, I thought the best flavor to pair with bacon was maple. So I set out to make a maple cupcake with some bacon bits inside. Next was figuring out what kind of frosting would best suit a bacon cupcake. I decided on making a maple icing, similar to the sort of icing that goes on a cinnamon roll. Last but not least, I wanted to put some sort of bacon on top of the frosting for a sort of shock value. I wanted whoever tried to see the bacon immediately. So they knew what they were getting into. I then went on to make some candied bacon pieces to finish of the cupcake. I thought that the candied pieces added a nice sweet & salty flavor to the cupcake, and they also looked really cool. The next step was to get the opinion of my taste testers, and they were all pretty scared of the idea of a bacon cupcake at first. But after trying it, they are all fans. My mission was successful!!! Bacon Rules!!!
